What is embalming?
Embalming is the art and science of disinfecting, temporarily preserving and restoring to a normal appearance. Embalming allows for time between death and the final disposition. It allows the family time to arrange and be part of the type of service they find comforting to them.
Do you have to be embalmed?
Except in certain cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be required if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a visitation with a viewing. Embalming is also required if the death was due to a communicable disease or if you are going to be taken across state lines. Embalming is not required if you choose cremation or direct burial and it takes place within 48 hours after death.
What is the purpose of a funeral?
A funeral is a special tribute to a life lived. it allows family and friends to pay their respects and face the reality of death. the service and visitation provides a support system for the family and friends, which enables them to start the grieving process together.
What is cremation?
Cremation is simply another form of disposition. Cremation is done by placing the body in a cremation container and then into the cremation chamber, where through heat and evaporation the body is reduced back to its natural elements.
Is pre-planning important?
Yes pre-planning is important because it allows families to consider options available to them before the need arises. it allows people to express their wishes. It can also relieve an emotional and financial burden from those you love.
